Weronika Zimnoch, historical violin
Per Anna Maria
is a homage to all voiceless and forgotten women musicians in history.
Anna Maria’s Partbuch belonged to such an artist. There we can find the most difficult violin pieces, including Vivaldi Concertos and their cadenzas, whose composer is unknown to this day. Was it Anna Maria or her master, Vivaldi?
The untamed virtuosity and creativity of women in the Baroque era shine brightly through the music of Barbara Strozzi and Francesca Caccini- composers of strikingly emotional arias and instrumental pieces. Fortunately their names weren’t erased by history and they are experiencing their renaissance today in the Early Music Movement.
Comparison with pieces of Matteis and Purcell show us that women composers were as skillfull and creative as their male counterparts. Their pieces can fascinate us with women’s forgotten sensitivity and point of view on 17th and 18th century art.
