The four members of the Horizon ensemble all grew up far way, in the New World, and left behind everything they knew, to come to the Netherlands – to the Royal Conservatory of The Hague - for the love of early music. Over more than 30 years their paths have met, diverged and converged again in shared performances of solo, chamber and symphonic repertoire from Schutz to Schubert, Buxtehude to Beethoven, in the Netherlands - where they all live at least part of the year - in the United States and in Australia. They have learned a lot from, and also contributed richly to, the vibrant musical and cultural scene of the Netherlands. They came at a time when virtually no women taught at the Royal Conservatory. Now, alongside their international performing schedules, they all teach at the Royal Conservatory and/or in other courses in the Netherlands. And they return to share their experiences and skills with young musicians in their own countries.
