The Plantage Chamber Orchestra

The Plantage Chamber Orchestra (PKO) was founded 12 years ago, with the aim of making exceptional pieces of music playable for an amateur group, with the instruments that were available. The composition of our orchestra is now such that it is also possible to play pieces in the original instrumentation, still with the idea of showing special and often less performed works.

The conductor

Pepijn Streng has been the conductor of the PKO for three years now. In addition to the PKO, Pepijn is also the conductor of the Merlijne orchestra, and he is also a teacher of composition, music theory and the recorder. As a composer and lover of modern music, he feels at home with the orchestra's adventurous attitude to also play lesser-known pieces.

The soloist

Gerben Houba is a sought-after soloist in the field of oratorio, opera and musical theatre, but also an active ensemble singer with various professional companies. Gerben was a permanent member of Capella Amsterdam from 1995 to 2011. He is currently affiliated with the Groot Omroepkoor.
