Unveiling of Locatelli’s statue

We cordially invite you to the statue unveiling in honor of the distinguished composer Pietro Locatelli. Kindly enter through the Gedempte Begijnsloot entrance.

The Italian Baroque composer and violin prodigy, Pietro Antonio Locatelli (1695 - 1764), resided in Amsterdam from 1729 until his demise and was interred in the English Reformed Church. A monument commemorating his legacy was crafted by Fabio Pravisani, with the support of Won Yip. 

Program:

Mr. Jaap Maas will deliver a welcome address, giving a short introduction about Pietro Locatelli in relation to the English Church, which will be followed by a musical interlude. Professor Albert Clement is set to present a brief biography of the composer, underscoring the context and importance of Locatelli’s legacy. Subsequently, the esteemed musician and conductor Ton Koopman will proceed with the official unveiling of Locatelli’s statue. The event will conclude with a casual reception, featuring an assortment of refreshments and snacks for the guests’ enjoyment.
