13 February

Dear Friends,

Greetings to you and I hope you are enjoying the snow and ice and staying upright!

This coming week we embark on the season of Lent, the 6 week period that recalls Jesus’ time of testing in the wilderness and that leads up to holy Week and Easter.

A few things for your attention:

  • This Wednesday, February 17th, is Ash Wednesday and there will be a short Ash Wednesday service at 19.00 hrs on Zoom: see below for the link. This will be followed by our Bible Study at 19.30 hrs.

Lent is a period of spiritual discipline and growth and you might like to join us for some of our weekly activities, if only for this season of Lent. These include:

  • Bible Study which during Lent will be weekly, on Zoom, each Wednesday at 19.30 hrs. Our Bible Studies will be based on studies of Mark’s Gospel that have been prepared for the International Presbytery (of which we are a part) by Rev Irene Bom from our sister congregation of Rotterdam Scots Kirk. Feel free to join us.

  • Compline, brief evening prayer, on Thursday and Sunday evenings at 21.00 hrs.

  • Psalm reciting on Tuesday mornings ( see below).

God bless you all and keep safe! See below for this week’s programme.

Prayer:

In this time there may be people who feel especially in need of prayer either for themselves or for someone else. There is a small group of people in the congregation who take it in turns on Sundays to be available after the service to pray for anyone in need - so, if you would like prayer or have a a particular prayer request please contact Margaret Richards on  margaretanne_richards@hotmail.com  and she and the others will pray accordingly.

A word about finance….

Please note that in this period when we are not meeting together there is a way of giving to the church on the website.

God bless you all and keep us united as a church family – and safe and well.
