29 October

Dear Friends,

One of the greatest delights of ministry has always been to welcome families and adults into the church through baptism. During our years in Amsterdam I took part in a little under 400 baptisms, and I’m delighted to add to that number on Sunday when we’ll welcome Madelief Pascoe for her baptism. She is just five months old and will remember little of the ceremony – which is why the promise the church community makes to continue to welcome and guide every baptised child is so important.

Children may not understand or remember the words they hear in hymns, prayers and sermons about our faith in Jesus Christ, but they very quickly appreciate if they are welcomed, loved and cherished.

I hope you will be able to join us on Sunday morning to support and encourage Madelief and the rest of the church community (but don’t forget that the clocks change during the night).

Yours,

John Cowie
